Buchenwald |
|
We rolled into Buchenwald Concentration Camp on the afternoon of April 14, 1945, Motor Pool driver Charles Green was one of the first of us to encounter survivors. ![]() They surrounded his truck begging for food. He tossed out as many C rations as he could, and they devoured them. Then, within minutes, they began collapsing, dying of ruptured stomachs. They had been starved for so long that their bodies could not handle so much food at once. |
