Where We Went

Our journey began in Camp Shelby, Mississippi in 1944 and took us to Europe by way of a convoy of ships to Scotland.

Trains took us to the other side of the British Isles where we then boarded ships to France.

We rolled through into Germany as part of General Patton's Third Army and entered the Buchenwald Concentration Camp on April 14, 1945.

We saw massive devastation on the way to Buchenwald and similar horrors after we left it, but nothing could compare to the impact that 44-acre camp would have on the rest of our lives.
